Funder Briefing: Covid-19 and Black Communities - What Philanthropy Needs to Know & Do
COVID-19 continues to disproportionately ravish Black souls. It inflicts unprecedented stress on African American physicians, nurses and hospital staffs, who are faced with the professional and personal burdens caused by the pandemic. The long-standing history of unresolved systemic health disparities, exacerbated by race and the effects of the pandemic on Black communities across the globe, cannot be ignored.
Join Dr. Georges Benjamin, executive director, American Public Health Association (APHA), as he shares how COVID-19 has magnified pre-existing racial health disparities in Black communities, and how the philanthropic community can begin to address these disparities through strategic investments, advocacy and by funding policy and transformational systems change.
